Enamel in its traditional form is a powdered glass that can be applied in various ways to metals like copper and silver. In this class, we look at liquid enamel and steel, it acts more like a ceramic slip and allows colours to be more vibrant. The steel means that the pieces are lightweight, making work in varying scales easier.

This class is for beginners, or those who have some experience working with enamel and/or making jewellery. We will look at mark making and creating patterns on the surface of the enamelled steel through layering, scraffitio, graphite drawing, enamel painting and applying silver leaf details.

At the end of the class you will leave with an enamelled name brooch, several sample tiles and create pendants from enamelled steel and a hand pierced silver charm to match.
