Saturday 17 September 2022, 10:00 am – 6:00 pm
This one day claw setting course is for jewellers looking to launch themselves into the world of stone setting, beginning with some entry-level techniques. It’s one half of the weekend version run at our HQ in Glasgow, where we introduce you to the wicked world of setting, are you ready? The step up from jeweller to setter is still a leap, but one that is most definitely within your reach.
We’re also running the Bezel Setting counterpart too! If you want to book both, we are offering the chance to get a 10% discount! Use the code BEZELCLAW at the checkout.
CAN I DO THIS CLASS?
Have you got the skills to create your jewellery but are fed up either outsourcing your setting work or avoiding those pretty little stones altogether? Then this is for you!
But please note that you need to have a good understanding of jewellery making. Knowledge of basic jewellery techniques is required. Skills such as soldering, filing and saw piercing are essential to take this course. This is for people with little, basic or no knowledge of stone setting skills. If you have any questions please do not hesitate to ask.
WHAT HAPPENS?
CLAW SETTING
You will come away with a fantastic understanding of entry-level stone setting that will lead to the further development of your designs and technical ability. You will be shown all the necessary methods to harness the techniques, however, please be aware that a certain amount of continual repetition will be required post-class to hone the skills. Practice makes perfect!
DO I NEED TO BRING ANYTHING?
Bring a sketchbook or similar for taking notes. Please note that glasses/optivisors are very much advised for this class [get in touch if you’re unsure]. Please wear long hair tied up [or bring something to do so], don’t wear open-toed shoes and keep loose-fitting clothing to a minimum.
We will provide all materials, which includes metal and stones. You will each have your own bench where we have access to all of our essential stone setting tools but do feel free to bring your own if you are more comfortable.
Due to current protocols, students will need to wear a face-covering [unless they are exempt]. You will be sent the most up to date and clear instructions ahead of the class. Unfortunately, we cannot provide refreshments at this time but please feel free to bring your own water bottles/juice or a flask of tea/coffee.
