REVIVAL: silver Residency programme

overview

Vanilla Ink are passionate about the historic, coastal town of Banff in Aberdeenshire and its important history of quality Provincial Silversmithing in Scotland. As part of the creative regeneration work we are doing to revive Banff Silver, The Smiddy invites applications from silversmiths and jewellery makers to Vanilla Ink’s reVIval: Silver Residency Programme.

Residencies are available in the disciplines of silversmithing and silver jewellery making only.

EDUCATE / INSPIRE / EMPOWER

Our Residencies are an integral part of our overall aim of providing both support and skills development for contemporary silversmiths and jewellery makers through our wider programme which includes teaching, business support, mentoring and residencies. The emphasis of the Residency Programme will be to support talented craftspeople and designer-makers who are sympathetic to this philosophy.

We encourage makers of all levels to work and learn with us on our Silver Residency Programme. Our programme offers opportunities for graduates, emerging makers and professionals in a beautiful environment in the north east of Scotland. We encourages small scale production of individually designed work which may be promoted through our studio and North East Open Studios (NEOS).  We also are keen to develop workshops with our Residents, to help them gain confidence to teach and share their knowledge with others.
