revival - graduate silversmith RESIDENCY

graduate silversmith RESIDENCY programme

Coming together on residency at The Smiddy, silversmiths will work in our gorgeous workshop and have daily access to our facilities together with support from our team.

The Graduate Silversmith Residency was established in 2019 to specifically assist young silversmiths. This two week programme is restricted to recent silversmith graduates only (up to 2 years post graduation).

The Programme

In this Programme, we welcome makers who will work alongside other residents, team Smiddy staff and class participants. REVIVAL: Graduate Silversmith Residency focuses on establishing professional practice within a workshop setting, with particular focus on creating high quality work and developing skills.

During the first few days you will undertake workshop inductions and have dedicated time with VI staff to develop a making schedule (should this be required) to ensure all work can be completed in the residency period. Please feel free to contact us prior to arrival, especially if you have a specific production project in mind.

Accommodation will be provided in one of our newly refurbished accommodation units.

Residents will have several intensive one-to-one tutorial sessions with our Silversmith per week during their Residency period.

Access

We have three small townhouses available nearby (within walking distance) and are happy to discuss how Vanilla Ink can support artists with families to access this residency. Please note: Townhouses are not suitable for wheelchair access while The Smiddy is accessible.

If you have any specific access requirements you would like to discuss please contact us prior to making an application.
