Cast a silver ring using the traditional method of cuttlefish casting - a technique used to create textured surfaces by pouring molten silver into a cuttlefish bone mould. This method of making jewellery is millennia old! It’s how yer ancestors made things.
CAN I DO THIS CLASS?
This workshop is for beginner or those with a little experience in jewellery making.
WHAT HAPPENS?
You will learn how to make a silver ring by casting molten silver and take it home with you on the day. What a way to spend four hours!
DO I NEED TO BRING ANYTHING?
Bring a sketchbook or something for taking notes etc. Everyone will have their own bench with access to all the tools and materials required to finish jewellery. You won’t need anything else as we provide the equipment needed for this session.
Please wear long hair tied up [or bring something to do so], don’t wear open-toed shoes and keep loose-fitting clothing to a minimum. If you need glasses to see things close up, please bring them with you. Creating jewellery is fiddly!
At this time we can’t let you borrow our aprons, you are advised to bring your own if you want to protect your clothes.
Due to current protocols, students will need to wear a face-covering [unless they are exempt]. You will also be sent the most up to date protocols and clear instructions ahead of the class. Unfortunately, we cannot provide refreshments at this time but please feel free to bring your own water bottles/juice or a flask of tea/coffee.
WHO IS TEACHING ME?
Our Taster Sessions are taught by one of our excellent team of tutors. They are young, healthy and powered by avocado.
