Good soldering is undervalued and often overlooked in terms of the importance of skills. However, as you will discover, there is a lot to learn and master. Having that gentle and dextrous touch can open up many possibilities that weren’t there before. I suppose you could say that for many a thing in life…
Anyway, this full day class will explore the hints, tips and techniques you’ll need to wield your torch like the master you are. Let us light the inner pyromaniac in you.
CAN I DO THIS CLASS?
If you’ve got basic skills but are totally fed up melting things, then this is for you. Let us show you the way of the fire.
WHAT HAPPENS?
Learn basic soldering techniques
Soldering multiple joins
Touch soldering
Flood soldering
Learn how to fuse metal together
Learn to securely rivet
Build a hinge
DO I NEED TO BRING ANYTHING?
Bring a sketchbook or similar for taking notes. Please note that glasses/optivisors are advised for this class [get in touch if you’re unsure]. Please wear long hair tied up [or bring something to do so], don’t wear open-toed shoes and keep loose-fitting clothing to a minimum.
We will provide all materials, which includes the metal required. You will each have your own bench where we have access to all of our essential tools but do feel free to bring your own if you are more comfortable.
Due to current protocols, students will need to wear a face-covering [unless they are exempt]. You will be sent the most up to date and clear instructions ahead of the class. Unfortunately, we cannot provide refreshments at this time but please feel free to bring your own water bottles/juice or a flask of tea/coffee.
